A short introduction.
I go by qdgiang online. Data engineer by trade — I build the platforms data moves through, and I try to make the things I make feel considered.
Computer science at HCMUT (VNU-HCM), class of 2024. I got here through a gifted high school, an AI internship, and the slow realization that I like the plumbing more than the models.
Data platforms. Most recently at VNPAY — Spark and Kafka pipelines, OpenMetadata, the Kubernetes underneath, and internal tooling that lets AI agents do the boring parts. Before that, Palantir Foundry work for airline customers at FPT Software.
Small and sharp beats large and vague. Durable beats novel. Write the boring version first. Ship the quiet thing. One thousand no's for every yes.
Long walks, slow coffee, record stores, late-night piano when the neighbors are kind about it.
Email is best — see Links. I reply to most messages within a week. No pitches, please; friends only.
Now
A now section, in the spirit of Derek Sivers — a snapshot of what has my attention, updated when things change.
Building a small personal site
Rebuilt from scratch — static pages, no client framework. Going for something I can open in ten years and still like.
In progressAgentic AI for data-engineering work
Internal tooling that hands the boring DE tasks to agents. Started on the job; the itch stayed.
BuildingWriting here — steady but unhurried
Aiming for roughly one essay a month. Quality first; I'd rather skip a month than publish filler.
WritingSocial media
Stepping back from most platforms. Email and RSS still work great, it turns out.

This site is statically generated with Astro — plain HTML and CSS by the time it reaches you. No client-side framework, no tracking, and the fonts are served from this domain. Type is set in Source Serif 4 and Inter Tight, with JetBrains Mono for the metadata. It will probably change, slowly, over the years.
